CLINIC HISTORY
Our original practice was founded by Dr. S.J. Harless in 1966. The Harless Animal Clinic, as our practice was known then, was located in a small bay in the Rockbrook Shopping Center at 108th and West Center Road in Omaha. Dr. Berryman joined the practice in 1973 and subsequently became a partner. In 1974 Dr. Johnson arrived as an intern from Iowa State University.
As our practice grew it soon outgrew its building. On July 5, 1983 our present facility opened its doors at 148th and West Center Road. With the relocation of the facility, our practice assumed a new name, Harvey Oaks Animal Hospital.
Our reputation for top quality medical and surgical practice has made us a major referral center for eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. Some clients come from as far as South Dakota, Missouri, Colorado and Kansas.
Harvey Oaks Animal Hospital expanded its services by adding an eye care specialty arm known as Animal Eye Clinic. Dr. Berryman is the primary provider of ophthalmology services. Harvey Oaks Animal Hospital and the Animal Eye Clinic continue to provide clients with the latest in diagnostic, surgical, and medical offerings available.
Anniversary Celebration
In July of 2008, Harvey Oaks Animal Hospital and Eye Clinc celebrated its 25th anniversay at the Harvey Oaks location. In an unprecedented move an open house was held for the clients, the public, and area veterinarians. Those attending were given back room tours to the inner workings of our hospital. The professional and lay staff were available to answer questions, explain instruments and equipment, and give a close up look at the newest additions to our laboratory and surgerical diagnosis equipment. Many clients were delighted to enter what they had considered the "inner sanctum" where only their pets had previously been allowed. It was a joyous occasion and allowed all of us to show our appreciation to the loyal clients and referring veterinarians we have served during our 25 years at Harvey Oaks. |
